I’ve been coming to Lokl Haus for years for the occasional afternoon iced Americano since I work nearby, and it has consistently been one of my favorite coffee spots in Santa Monica. The coffee is fantastic, and I’ve also tried their pastries, meals, and snacks over the years. Everything is high quality, reasonably priced, and has that fresh, healthy feel that makes it an easy go-to. I also highly recommend the pistachio chia protein pudding (I think that’s what it’s called) — so good! Apparently I’ve been coming here long enough that recently I walked in and they had my iced Americano ready before I even ordered it. Such a small thing, but it absolutely made my day and says a lot about the people who work here. Great coffee, great food, and genuinely thoughtful service. Highly recommend Lokl Haus!

Weirdly, this place was recommended to me by a nice girl I met at the bar last night when we were chatting about how I was learning Turkish. TLDR; amazing food & coffee, service & atmosphere wasn’t hitting for me as a first time customer — guy at the register seemed a bit grumpy/unengaging, but I did find my way there an hour prior to closing. 🥲 I’ll return anyway because the girl I met told me their İskender was really good and I’d like to try it. After analyzing their existing Google reviews, I saw they serve Döner and İskender specific times/days of the week at a kitchen close by their coffee location. Amongst the top ranked Turkish coffees I’ve had in LA. I could tell it wasn’t the default brand often used which is “Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi” and I appreciated the distinctive taste. Interestingly, a group of friends came in after me, and one of the guys said he felt the pour was weak and a bit watery, that he was looking for a more “gritty” taste, which I understand some people tend to expect because at the bottom of every Turkish coffee there is sediment (that of course you’re not meant to consume) but I disagreed with the take and really enjoyed my coffee. We stopped by on a Saturday morning before heading to a museum, planning to grab coffee and a quick breakfast. The Turkish coffee was excellent, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the baristas were very kind and welcoming. We also ordered sandwiches and an omelet. While the coffee came out right away, we ended up waiting more than 30 minutes for the food. Since we had timed museum tickets, we couldn’t wait any longer and asked to pack everything to go. We ended up eating in the museum parking lot, and the food was actually very tasty. Overall, great coffee and nice atmosphere, but the wait time didn’t work for a quick breakfast. Tip: come here only for drinks. The coffee is 10/10.

I had the grilled cheese, cucumber salad and a Turkish coffee. All were excellent and very flavorful the grilled cheese was a blend perfectly melted on a not too toasted sourdough. There is no parking. I don't know how people eat here. But I know they must, and they should.

The coffee shop may be small, but I appreciate the charming decor throughout the space. The owner has a friendly demeanor that adds to the welcoming atmosphere. Enjoying my coffee outdoors was a delightful experience. I tried the Turkish coffee that my husband ordered, and it had a truly distinct flavor. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
